WICOR-Reading
The NovelThe 6th grade AVID students have truly enjoyed reading the Novel, Tuck Everlasting. They have learned state standards related to the author's purpose, author's point of view, literary devices, and more.

The NotesAs the students have journeyed through the story, they have kept what we call "Tuck Packets" which include notes on each chapter of the book. These notes include gathering and citing evidence, summaries, illustrations, and more.

The MovieYou simply cannot read the book without watching the movie after. Watching the movie is a great way for students to see variances between different works. As students watch the Disney movie in sections, they are given the opportunity to stop and discuss the similarities and differences. Then students are able to add these notes to their "Tuck Packets" in a way that includes evidence from the text that prove the similarities and the differences.
